GRIMES TIMES!! GRIMES TIMES!!

SPECIAL NOTICE !!: We are looking for an in-town driver (or two) who can take us and a 7-foot-long acoustic bass, plus violin, amp, and miscellaneous concert supplies, to and from gigs in the New York City area on call. This would be someone with his / her own van (and clean license and registration) who drives carefully, doesn't drink or use drugs (at least not when working with us), and is helpful, conscientious, and totally reliable. We can pay a decent driver's fee per day plus cover the costs of gas and tolls. And we'd especially love to have this person be a music lover! Please reply to <Email>or 212-841-O899. Thanks!

GREAT NEW REVIEWS!

Wrote Carol Pearce Bjorlie in her review of Henry Grimes's book “Signs Along the Road” for this summer’s issue of “Bass World,” the magazine of the International Society of Bassists: “Henry’s making wordmusic. Words and music mingle in Henry Grimes’ poetry in a confluence of sonority. If you are brave, curious, ready to be seared, read these poems....” “Signs Along the Road” is available from buddysknife.de or downtownmusicgallery.

And Mark Urness, writing about Mr. Grimes ’s brand-new double CD set “Henry Grimes Solo,” also for the summer issue of “Bass World”: “In this remarkable two-disc set, we hear up close and in thrilling detail the variety and depth of timbres Henry creates on the bass and violin. It is relentlessly energetic and all-inclusive. Grimes consistently surprises with lightning-quick changes of material. The music is at turns disjunct and conjunct, atonal and diatonic, non-pitched and melodic, arhythmic and grooving; it is a study in variety and timbral/ rhythmic/ melodic opportunity. Congratulations to Henry Grimes!...” Click on the “purchase CDs and books” link for purchase information.
